Nathan Quain

Upper School Mathematics Teacher, Head of Prep

After initially working in the finance industry having graduated from the University of York in 2005, Nathan later decided to go into teaching and completed his PGCE in Mathematics at the University of Hull in 2010. He taught mathematics in the UK and Germany before coming to China in 2014. Nathan has taught mathematics at many different levels, including the IB Diploma and Cambridge A-Level, and recently gained Senior Leadership experience at a high school in Shenzhen City, China. 

Annabel Smyth

Majored in Musical Theatre, University of Essex, UK, graduate student in Education, and certified as a British elementary school teacher. She has taught in private schools and international schools in the United Kingdom, Dubai, Qatar and other countries as the subject leader of performing arts courses.

Charles Elly

Charles holds a Bachelor of Education Arts degree, but he is also in his final stage for his Master of Arts in Music Education. Charles has been a Music Teacher in International schools for the last 14 years. He is passionate about Music Technology, but he is also talented in Music Composition and Performance of both Instrumental and Vocal music. He previously taught in Kenya, Malawi and he came to China in 2019 to teach in Sichuan Province, having served as Head Department and leading Music departments in various schools to greater heights.

In addition to skillfully teaching language courses, she has rich experience in the teaching of drama, music, dance, and sports courses. Recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Mathematics and technology major, British education graduate student, obtained the British mathematics and technology teacher qualification certification PGCE and CELTA second language teaching certificate. Good at cross-age language teaching, and senior mathematics, computer and programming courses.

The backbone of national education and teaching, the winner of the first prize of national quality courses, and the winner of the first prize of provincial education and scientific research achievements.

For a long time, she has devoted herself to the exploration of the integration of international teaching methods and traditional language teaching. She has guided students to participate in language subject competitions and essay competitions and won the first prize many times.

Lucas Hou

He has served as the director of teaching and research in key middle schools, provincial basic education achievement award, and municipal teaching backbone.  

Nate Li

P.E. Teacher

Graduated from Harbin Normal University majoring in physical training.

National class II sprinters who has broken the 100 meter and 200 meter sprint records of Harbin for four consecutive times, and the record has been maintained so far.

Henneke Frick

Hanneke holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology and Political Science from the University of Stellenbosch, in South Africa. She continued her studies at the University of South Africa, completing her PGCE and majoring in English Studies, in 2015. Hanneke has more than 9 years teaching experience in South Africa, UAE, China, and Russia.

Hanneke is committed to creating an inclusive school and classroom where every student’s uniqueness is treasured and students are encouraged to use their own talents to contribute to teamwork. She aims to create a classroom where each child feels that he/she matters, is cared for and loved. It is important to Hanneke that each child’s individual needs are identified to help them excel in their education and she values good communication with parents.

Jason Cecere

LS TEACHER AND COONDINATOR

Mr. Cecere holds a Master’s degree in International Education (Pedagogy) from Framingham State University and is certified to teach in China and the United States. Prior to joining Harrow Nanning, he taught in top international schools in the United States, Thailand and Indonesia and has 9 years of teaching experience. Mr. Cecere is familiar with the British and American education systems as well as the IB curriculum, and he is committed to integrating international education methods with Chinese education. As a male teacher, he wants to be a model for students and  create a fun, creative, and inquisitive classroom environment for his students to achieve their learning goals. In addition, he loves sports and offers a basic basketball programme for his students to encourage their overall development.

David St John

Upper School English Teacher, head of Lyon House

Mr. St John graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Geography and has 5 years of teaching experience, He has taught in the UK and China before joining Harrow Nanning. In addition to teaching, his love of sports has led him to play tennis semi-professionally at a well-known sports club in the UK.

 

Margie Sanabria

Lower School Teacher

Margie graduated with a degree in Education and is qualified to teach in both the US and China. Prior to joining Harrow Nanning, Ms. Margie taught at international schools in the U.S. and Shanghai, China, where she excelled at identifying students’ talents and creating opportunities for them to excel in a loving and encouraging environment.

Zinhle Sibisi

Lower School Teacher

Ms. Sibisi graduated in Mathematics, English and Business Studies and qualified to teach in the UK and China. Prior to joining Harrow Nanning, she worked as a primary school lead teacher and has 8 years of teaching experience. As a teacher, Ms Sibisi has always created a warm, friendly environment where students can freely express their thoughts and feelings. She is passionate about education and her desire to share knowledge with her students and make a difference in their lives through knowledge.

Zanmarie Snyman

Cross Phase Teacher: PE with EAL.

Zanmarie graduated from the North West University of Potchefstroom, South Africa. She obtained her iPGCE from the University of Derby, UK. With more than six years of teaching experience, she has been teaching in China for five years. Cross-phase teaching experience within English and Physical Education. She obtained her swimming coach certification from American Swimming Coaches Association. She has a rich background in teaching EAL and coaching various sports.

Tymur Matsiyevych

PE Teacher & Head of Kwizera House

Mr Matsiyevych holds a master degree in Physical Education and he was a professional football player and professional martial arts fighter in Wrestling, Boxing, Kickboxing and Combat Sambo. He was the head football coach at a famous school in Shenzhen and under his leadership the school team won the first place at the Guangdong Youth Football Championship.

Kiki Chen

Chinese Teacher

Graduated from Chinese Literature. 8 years of language teaching experience as well as 5 years of classroom teacher experience. Before joining Harrow Nanning, she worked as a Chinese teacher in a famous middle school in China, and her classes were always in the top of the grade level. Ms. Chen has always adhered to the attitude of “lifelong learning” and pursued excellence in teaching and personally. She has won the first prize in many teacher competitions.

Sue Liang

LS Teaching Assistant

Ms. Liang has fifteen years of experience in teaching Chinese at home and abroad. She has worked as a Chinese teacher in international schools in the United States and Thailand. She understands the education system and educational teaching characteristics of different countries, is familiar with the psychological needs of students of different age groups, has rich experience in teaching Chinese, and has mastered the skills of teaching Chinese in different cultural backgrounds.

Ms. Liang is good at calligraphy and painting, and can integrate Chinese culture teaching well into daily education to enhance students’ interest in learning in order to stimulate students’ learning initiative and achieve better learning results.”

Victoria Zhu

LS Teaching Assistant

Ms Victoria Zhu was born and grew up in Changchun, Jilin Province in Northeast China. Ms Victoria Zhu got her BA in Political Education in China and got her Master’s degree from the University of Wroclaw.  She has worked and studied mainly in Poland and Spain in the past years and returned to China in 2017.  She believes in boosting the great curiosity and potential of each child can lead to the success of Education.

Jane Liang

LS Teaching Assistant

Ms Liang holds a master degree in Education from the University of Reading and she holds a senior high school Teacher certificate(Chinese). Before joining Harrow Nanning, she served as a Chinese teacher for 7 years in a primary school and won the first and second prizes in many provincial and inter school teaching and research competitions. She is good at designing different teaching and management methods according to children’s different age characteristics to promote children’s all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and labour.

Stefnie Burger

Lower School Class Teacher

Stefnie, an enthusiastic sportswomen, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science from Stellenbosch University. Here she learned the true value of what co-curricular activities could have on a child’s life and well-being. She started her career as a Sports Coordinator, where she integrated her love for sports and teaching. In 2018 she completed her PGCE from the University of South Africa, and has been teaching ever since. Her speciality lies in teaching English as a foreign language. Stefnie takes pride in encouraging critical thinking in her students. She strongly believes that it instils a sense of freedom in her students and allows for creativity in their work. 

Brandon Cook

Upper School English Teacher & Assistant Housemaster

Brandon obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Indiana in 2014. Since then, he has held teaching positions in a variety of institutions, schools, and universities throughout Russia, Czechia, and Nanning. A published writer as well as an educator, Brandon embraces a teaching philosophy that stresses creativity, student-teacher collaboration, and the pursuit of knowledge as a lifelong endeavor.

Wian Prinsloo

Lower School Class Teacher

Mr Wian Prinsloo graduated from South Africa University,holding  bachelors degree of Education in Math and zoology.He is also a qualified teacher with QTS.

 

Mr Prinsloo is a hard working and dedicated teacher. He always places his fellow colleagues and student’s needs above his own. Before joint AISL Harrow Nanning,he had 9 years teaching experience in primay schools in South Africa and China.

Daniel Walsh

Lower School Class Teacher

Daniel holds a bachelors degree in Software Engineering from The University of Manchester and a masters in International Business Management. He achived advanced TEFL certification He has spent thirteen years of his career working in the education sector in China. 

Daniel is dedicated to the education of China’s future leaders and believes in the unlimited potential of every child. He brings to Harrow his experience and expertise along with a passion for helping students to meet both their academic and life goals.

Nicky Liang

LS Teaching Assistant

Ms Nicky Liang Hold a bachelors degree in Education, Community and Organization in University of Washington, master degree in Early Childhood Education in Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has studied in the U.S. for six years, her internship experience in an American public primary school and her own education experience have made her more familiar with the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western culture and education. 

She believes in education, in which everyone has equal rights and through education, students will be able to think critically. A teacher, should act as an assistant in the student-led learning process, helping them find the learning method that really suits them.

Joanne Liang

LS Teaching Assistant

Joanne holds a bachelors degree in Science and masters in Teaching from the University of Melbourne. She planned and implemented inquiry project for students to support their sense of equity in 2020 when she was in the room leader and program coordinator role, this later gained her the full registration qualification as an early year teacher with the Victoria Institution of Teaching (VIT). 

Joanne believes all children have the capabilities to reach their level of achievement and she is passionate in supporting children to explore their full capacities. She hopes that her love of children and professional experience would make a positive addition to Harrow.

Connie Chen

LS Teaching Assistant

Graduated from the University of Sheffield with a master’s degree in education, professional English level 8. She has taught in foreign language training institutions and worked in well-known Sino-foreign cooperative universities. She thinks that education and the nature of children should not be opposed. She believes in obeying children’s nature, guiding them to discover their interests, and protecting their curiosity to explore the world so that they can truly understand themselves and become independent and autonomous individuals.

Molly Guo

LS Teaching Assistant

 

Ms Guo graduated from Beijing International Business Administration College, majoring in English culture. She worked in Beijing Tsinghua international school for many years and Zhejiang public middle school as homeroom teacher. She was awarded  “Outstanding Teacher” of Beijng foreign students educational institution. She got TESOL and the certification of instructor for family education.

Godwin Okochi

Whole School Science Teacher

Mr Godwin Okochi holds a BSc. Energy Engineering degree as well as a M.Sc. Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In addition, Godwin also holds a 120 hours TESOL teaching certificate  as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Liverpool John Moore’s University, U.K.

Godwin has more than seven years’ experience teaching IGCSE, AS and A Level Physics and Maths to students. Before moving to Harrow Nanning, Godwin taught Physics and Maths at  Shanghai where he oversaw students score excellent results and joining some of the UK’S top universities such as Cambridge, UCL, etc.

Godwin believes that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. He strives to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. 

Finally, Godwin is a very enthusiastic, energetic classroom leader with a good sense of humor, and brings these qualities with him to school every day. 

Kasey Ou

Chinese Teacher

Ms Ou holds a Master’s degree in International Chinese Language Teaching from The Education University of Hong Kong. She has worked as a Chinese teacher and headmaster in renowned schools in Guangdong Province, where she was responsible for Chinese teaching, researching courses and PBL courses. She has also taught as a Chinese  teacher at the International Institute of Chinese Language and Culture of East China Normal University and the Chinese Department of Masaryk University in the Czech Republic, and has extensive experience in bilingual work.

Ms. Ou holds a high school language teaching certificate, a high school education teaching certificate and a family education instructor certificate, and is qualified as a school counsellor.

Ms. Ou upholds the philosophy of “people-centred” education, focusing on inspiring and nurturing students’ internal drive, discovering the joy of learning and the value of self-growth. She is committed to inspiring each student to grow and develop on their own, and is highly regarded by students and parents alike.

Lily Tan

Chinese Teacher

Ms Tan holds a B.A. degree in Chinese International Education and has five years of frontline teaching experience. She has worked as a Chinese teacher and a headmaster in a well-known school in Guangdong Province, and during her teaching period, she led a class that won the first place in the district in Chinese performance. She is an outstanding member of the Guangdong Provincial Key Project Research Group, and has been awarded as an outstanding instructor in the National Language Literacy Competition for many times, and specialises in broadcasting and recitation.

 

She believes that language teachers should be travelers and connoisseurs of the Chinese language world, respecting each student’s reading experience, acting as mentors for the development of the child’s spirit and spiritual growth, guiding the student’s perception and aesthetics of the world, helping to shape his or her personality and mind, and inspiring the birth of romance and poetry within him or her.

Wenny Song

Librarian

Ms.Song holds a bachelor degree majoring in English Language and Literacy. In addition,she is qualified to be a high school English teacher. She was used to work in Tourism industry and  was responsible for  the reception for the visitation of Secretary of State‘s family to travel. Furthermore, she has the teaching experience of well-known English graded picture books and advocates the reading of family parent-child English picture books. Rich experience and work experience make her confident in guiding children to read.

William Carr

Upper School Mathematics Teacher, Head of Chen House

William holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the university of Chester followed by a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics with QTS.  He spent his first 2 years in 2 different schools on the north west of England. In 2020 he found a job in the middle east in Qatar and worked there for 2 years. 

William is passionate about Mathematics and uses this to create engaging, innovative and interesting learning experiences for all students. This is what brought him to teaching as he wants to encourage discovery in Mathematics for all students.

Neil Fan

Upper School Teaching Assistant, Resident Boarding Tutor

Neil holds a bachelor degree in English in East China University of Science and Technology. He spent 2 years teaching junior high students English in the border between China and Myanmar. After this, he became a Coach Mentor in famous International Schools in China and accompanied students to grow better in both academics and student life. 

 

Neil believes that all students are excellent and a teacher has to find out and help students find out their unique excellence. To achieve this, Neil is passionate about getting engaged in various areas of students and patient to guide students to fulfill their potentials.

Toby Zhu

Upper School Teaching assistant

Toby graduated from the City University of Macau with a Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning, and worked as a language support teacher in the learning Hub of Guangzhou and as an English teaching assistant in grade 7 and 8. In the 7th and 8th grade, I worked with the foreign teachers to support the students who were less advanced. Education is not a teacher led lecture, but a differentiated teaching from the perspective of students to effectively help students.

Christina Li

Upper School Teaching assistant

Christina holds a bachelor’s degree in English Translation and master’s in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages from Sun Yat-sen University. She spent 3 years of her career working in language training. Retraining in 2017, she gained a professional academic experience in international teaching area, specializing in upper years and above.  

Christina believes that learning happens in interactions between people and the environment we are creating.

Miranda Sun

Upper School Teaching assistant

Ms Sun holds MBA and studied at the  San Antonio College and the UC, Berkeley,US. She has been certified as a psychologist by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and has 15 years of working experience. She once served as ESL synchronous tutor in American universities and participated in the teaching system of top private kindergartens and national blue ribbon  schools in the United States. Her multicultural work and study experience enables her to deeply understand the cultural differences  and konw  students‘ needs’ and understand the expectations of parents.

Angel Gong

Major in English and she owns the certificate of TEM8, and worked as an intern in ASEAN Secretariat.  She holds a postgraduate degree in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TESOL) from the University of Sheffield with 6 years of Experience in English teaching. 

Vivian Tang

Upper School Teaching Assistant

Ms. Tang holds a master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. Before joining Harrow Nanning, she was a Chinese Language teacher teaching in Confucius Institute in a University in    Philippine and awarded “Outstanding Chinese Language Teacher Volunteer”. After returning, she used to work in Guangzhou and Shenzhen as a co-teacher and  an English teacher in top international schools.

Nui Siriphan Liyawarakhun

Music Teacher

Ms. Liya attained a Bachelor of Music degree and later continued to study for a Master of Early Childhood Education degree at Chulalongkorn University. 

She has been teaching in her area for more than ten years and is very experienced in the enlightenment of pupils’ critical thinking skills and the cultivation of pupils’ tastes in the arts.

A certified IB teacher from the University of Windsor, Canada, Ms Nui is a former performer in orchestras and  worked as an orchestra instructor and music teacher at Harrow Bangkok and at British International Schools in Chiang Mai, Thailand and China before joining Harrow Nanning.

Tina graduated from Worcester University. She has over 5 years teaching experience. In Tina’s opinion, teachers should be students’ friends as well as their masters. A teacher is a person knowledgeable also a good sample for students.​
