On 7th July 2021, Ms Danae Dholakia, Minister Counsellor Prosperity at British Embassy Beijing and Ms Xian Zhao, Senior Outreach Officer at British Consulate-General Guangzhou visited Harrow Nanning and experienced Harrow Nanning’s Education.
Ms Luna Cao,the Chinese Principal of Harrow Nanning gave her speech at the beginning of the event.She said: “Although for Harrow Nanning, it is our first year to be at Guangxi. We have already felt very honored to have so much support from Chinese government, our parents, students, and of course, our guests of today! I wish we can all keep in mind the power of our friendship and May the Chinese-British friendship last forever!”
Ms Danae Dholakia said：“Education is core to the development of all countries and is a crucial part of UK-China relations. Both countries are committed to creating more opportunities to encourage bilateral exchange and cooperation in this domain. The importance of education’s quality and method of delivery cannot be understated. Passing on our knowledge, culture and character is a responsibility that the UK and China take very seriously and have been doing so for a very long time.
Harrow LiDe School Nanning is an example of the glowing partnership in education between the UK and South China. I am pleased to see Harrow School bring the strength of British schooling to Nanning, where it has blended the high-quality Chinese education and UK education. I’m sure you will be providing a high standard of education for the wider Chinese student community for many years to come.”
Neil Clayton, the Founding Headmaster and CEO of Harrow Nanning Shared Harrow Nanning’s education missions with the extinguished guests and audiences. He mentioned pursuing reform, innovation and opening up, a crucial move in making China what it is today, China had had caught up with the times in great strides. It was this reform, innovation and opening up that led talents from all around the world came to Harrow Nanning to build up an innovative，creative and harmonious community for the young talented people of Guangxi and Nanning. These young people would need skills in leadership and service, they would need the values of courage, honour, humility and fellowship. Skills and values at the very heart of Chinese, the UKS and indeed Harrow’s educational approach. In this respect we are perfect bedfellows; committed to the world leading inclusive education.
After the speeches, pupils from the Harrow Little Lions Kindergarten showed how far they had come through their journey in the space of just one year. The children sang Folk songs which are the unique tradition of Guangxi and warmly welcomed the extinguished guests to visit Harrow Nanning. Our SLT team also had a school tour with the guests and introduced we were making final efforts to prepare for the very-soon-to-be open second phase of Harrow Nanning.
MsDholakia said Harrow Nanning would bring the creativity that British education encourages and the discipline of Chinese education together.In addition,Harrow Nanning created a world-class education enviroment for the young people.She gave her best wishes to Harrow Nanning for the second phase opening.
Furthermore,our SLT team were invited as the representative of Education sector to share the school’s preparation to the representatives of Guangxi Government under the organization by Guangxi Foreign affair Office and British Consulate Guangzhou. The school leaders said: “As a school rooted in China and open up to the world, Harrow Nanning School strives to make contribution to cultivate future leaders who will lead 21st century New Silk Road cooperation, and we are committed to build a world leading inclusive education school to attract more global talents to work and live in Nanning.”
