Pedagogy & Curriculum

Our curriculum is carefully constructed to ensure that it reflects the most up-to-date and relevant knowledge regarding what is most important for children aged 2 – 6 and deliberately draws from the best Kindergarten Curricula from across the world. This specifically incorporates the Chinese guidelines for Kindergarten aged children while also acknowledging aspects of the English Early Years Foundation Stage (HLLC). A central philosophical and practical consideration is ensuring that the curriculum meets the needs of the child and is delivered in way that all children can access it. Equally there is a strong emphasis on cultural heritage and identity with an outward facing International Mindedness that will prepare children for the global dimensions and demands of the world they will live and work in. Part of this curriculum is ensuring that children thrive in a truly Bilingual environment that both secures confidence and development in their home language as well as natural exposure to and acquisition of the English language.

It is at this stage too, that the Harrow Values of Courage, Honour, Humility and Fellowship are introduced and nurtured within each child. Developing the traits, skills and attributes which support their journey from Little Lions to future leaders is a central ambition for our provision.

Our educational programme is shaped by the HLLC and the Learning and Development Guidelines for children aged 2 – 6:

  • Pre- K, 2 to 3 years old
  • K1, 3 to 4 years old
  • K2, 4 to 5 years old

  • Sustainability (Environmental Awareness)
  • Digital Knowledge and Awareness
  • Cultural identity, heritage and diversity / International Mindedness

And the learning Disciplines of

AISL Harrow Little Lions, Nanning provides children with a carefully structured curriculum and an evidenced-based approach to teaching that ensures emotional, social and cognitive development is at the core of everything that we do.

This start to their educational journey will enable them to thrive and succeed.

01

RECOGNITION THAT EVERY CHILD IS UNIQUE

Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Our children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships. Teachers observe each child’s development and learning, plan for next steps in learning and support children to develop a positive sense of their own identity and culture.

02

POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS

Positive relationships are warm and loving and foster a sense of belonging. Our teachers are sensitive and responsive to the child’s needs, feelings and interests, supportive of the child’s own efforts and independence, and stay consistent in setting clear boundaries.

03

ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS

In Little Lions, we offer stimulating resources relevant to all the children’s cultures and communities, rich learning opportunities through play and playful teaching, and support for children to take risks in exploring and expressing themselves ‘in a hundred ways’.

04

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Children develop and learn in different ways. We teach our children by ensuring challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific areas of learning and development, and foster the characteristics of effective learning.

Well-balanced School Schedule for Healthy & Happy Learning

Children’s well-beiing and their unique development needs are taken into consideration when designing the class’s daily schedule. For example, our C1 students will enjoy a tailor-made class schedule from 8:30a.m and ending at 4:30p.m. with enough time for lunchbreak, which ensures a whole day of energetic learning and playing.
